The Colony Reservoir |
The Colony ReservoirAs its name suggests this small reservoir located on the
Charnwood Lodge Nature Reserve used to supply water to The
Colony located at Mount St Bernards Abbey. The inmates of this establishment
are credited with excavating it. However another theory is that they only
cleaned it out deepened it and laid a pipe to the Colony and that it was
originally formed or utilized to supply extra water down to
Charley Mill via a culvert that followed
closely the contours of the land.
